Abs, we want them, but how?

ABS!! Who doesn't want abs, well, okay, maybe even just a flatter tummy will do! Have you been trying endless crunches, twists, leg raises and still nothing to show? Here's the secret: it all has to do with what's on top of your abs that determines whether they show or not.
I know, the brutal truth. We can crunch and sit-up all day long, but our abs will stay nice and cozy, hidden beneath that layer that covers them...aka Fat. So, how DO you get your abs to show?
In my years of personal training, the reality is, our body composition starts in the kitchen, literally. Think of your body like a piece of clay, the parts of clay you don't need are melted off by reducing your caloric intake, and the fine details are shaped in the gym.
It is of general consensus that what we look like has only 20% to do with our physical activity (I'll get back to that in a moment), and 80% to do with what happens in the kitchen! What we eat plays such a huge role in what we look like, that's the truth!
Now, exercise is important for cardiovascular health, joint mobility, strength (especially as we age) and shaping those muscles, even increasing their size, so they have the aesthetic appeal we desire, but if you don't eat properly, this will be more difficult too!
So rule of thumb, before you go all crazy with those abs routines, take a look at what you are eating, and if perhaps it is time to tune up what goes on in the kitchen. It only take a few minor adjustments to have a shift, and believe me, when you start to see it happen, you will be so happy you did!
